One planet . one family - BOATHOUSE / BLACKWELL is committed to not only doing what we do today, but what we can do in the future. We will continue to revisit how we operate in order to build our sustainability initiatives. Giving back • We believe strongly in giving back to our community and the world as a whole. Our team members across Canada participate locally in food and used clothing drives as well as walks for cancer, MS, epilepsy and arthritis. Our teams also volunteer at the SPCA, women's shelters, food banks and other charities. Our team members hold many passions near to their hearts and we support them and are all for participating! • Our stores have gathered donations from our generous customers to advance cancer research as well as to help with the Australian bushfires at the start of 2020. We have only begun to make an impact and believe we have a long way to go but are excited to make the journey. • Our company has given to, and continues to support cancer research in the name of Melissa Katzman, our owners daughter who passed away from cancer at the age of 31. we truly believe we are one planet, one family our visual initiative • You see those window banners? They are normally made with vinyl which ends up in landfills. We are switching our materials to a recyclable cardstock. That will eliminate 15,328 yards of vinyl. • We are using more instore "logo" imagery, which will reduce replacing signs seasonally. This will cut our signage waste by 50%. • Our logo signs? They are made from foam core which is not recyclable. We are now switching to coroplast which is recyclable and helps our signage be more green. • We are reducing the amount and depth of promotions that we usually run, which will eliminate 38,394 pieces of printed paper. No worries, we will continue to offer great deals! • We are reducing our carbon footprint by cutting flights and utilizing "visual walk-throughs" via a streaming app. This ensures that our visual team can verify that our stores look amazing without leaving their home town. • We have also changed our lighting in stores to LED in order to be energy efficient. our visual initiative • You see those window banners?
